Frequently Asked Questions

+ What is Microblading?

Microblading is a manual, semi-permanent technique used in semi-permanent make up (SPMU) to create a realistic eyebrow tattoo. A sterile and disposable microblading tool is used to implant high quality pigments into the superficial layers of the skin to create the illusion of natural hairstrokes.

+ How long will it last?

Microblading results differ for each individual. Generally results will last up to around 10 to 18 months depending on the individuals skin type.

Dry skin types results usually last longer than oily skin types. Results are not guaranteed as there are many factors to determine colour retention, including aftercare and lifestyle.

+ I don't want anything too thick or dark

A statement often used during consultation. Don't worry, microblading doesn't look bold or heavy. The purpose of microblading is to mimic fine hairstrokes that are in-keeping with your own facial morphology and coluring. The hairs are drawn in the direction of your own hair growth pattern ensuring that the tattoo blends with your own hair. If you have very little to no hair then a hairstroke pattern will be chosen for you.

+ How is the shape/ colour chosen?

The colour of the eyebrow is determined by the clients own natural colouring. The shape is determined by using the golden mean ratio, and a digital device to ensure preciseness of symmetry, length and thickness according to your own facial features.

Standard pre-drawn stencils are never used. All eyebrow shapes are drawn manually and in line with your own unique facial morphology for a truly bespoke brow.

+ Do I need a patch test?

Yes. A patch test must be carried out at least 24 hours before the treatment date. We will send you this out in the post after you have had a video consultation.

+ How long does the treatment take?

Microblading:

The initial treatment can take up to 3 hours.

Your 5 week top up treatment may take up to 1.5 hours

Eyelash enhancement:

The initial treatment can take up to 3 hours.

Your 5 week top up treatment may take to 1.5 hours

+ How much will my treatment cost?

Please see the price list page for all pricing details.

+ Does it hurt?

For Microblading the pain during the procedure is relative. Most liken the sensation to that of having their eyebrows plucked, or a scratchy sensation. Topical anaesthetic is used after the first pass, therefore most clients will not feel any pain sensations once the anaesthetic starts to take effect within a few minutes.

The area can feel a bit tender and can be slightly swollen and red for the hours following the procedure. This tends to be relieved after a few hours of having the treatment done. In some cases up to 24 hours, depending on the individuals sensitivity.

Anxious clients will feel more pain as the sensory nerve endings are heightened, therefore it is important to relax during the treatment for your own comfort.

The same goes for Eyelash Enhancement.

+ How long is the healing time?

Microblading:

The full healing process takes 5 weeks. It can take between 7 and 14 days for the brows to scab and heal over, during this time the brows will look darker as the skin heals. Around week 3 the pigment may seem to have faded as the new skin comes through. At 5 weeks your skin has completely healed and is ready for the top up of any patchy or faded hair strokes. Then the same process will follow when it comes to your 5 week top up treatment.

Eyelash Enhancement:

The full healing process takes 5-6 weeks. It can take between 7 and 14 days for the pigment in the skin to possibly scab and heal over, during this time the colour will look darker as the skin heals. Around week 3 the pigment may seem to have faded as the new skin comes through. At 5-6 weeks your skin has completely healed and is ready for the top up of any patchy or faded pigment. Then the same process will follow when it comes to your 5 week top up treatment.
