The Microblading Healing Process

How does the healing process work, and how long does it take?

These are two of the most asked questions from my clients during their microblading consultation at Brows by Femi. So here is a breakdown of what you should expect on the day of the treatment and beyond.

On the day of the treatment your brows will more bold and intense than they will when they are healed. Even up to Day 10 they may look up to 40% darker, and 20% thicker than they will when they are healed. This is because the skin has undergone a ‘trauma’ caused by the microblading tool to implant the pigment into the skin. Your skins’s natural defence system kicks into play and causes inflammation and redness.

The brows should be kept clean and protected over the first 2 days with the aftercare kit provided.

Day 3 to 7 means possible scabbing of the brows. It is very important at this stage to not pick any scabs as it will decrease the pigment retention. You should also avoid excessive sweating, make up, water or products on the brows during this time. As the scabs start to fall off your brows will look patchy, but don’t worry, trust that they will look great soon.

Day 8 onwards means that you can start to protect your brows with sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher. It’s important to not use an oily one as this can affect colour retention.

Around Day 21 your brows may look as if they have faded quite a bit, but be sure that the brightness of the pigment will start to shine through even more by the time you return for your top up.

Day 30 means that your brows will look great, although may have some patchy areas that need to be touched up, and that’s when you return for your 4 week perfection top up.

Then the process starts all over again, although not as intense as it’s usually a minor touch up that’s needed.

Trust the process. It’ll all be worth it.
